1 Thing to do to Have a Healthier Pumpkin Spice Season
Did you know food companies refer to this time of year as Pumpkin Spice Season?
Pumpkin-flavored grocery products reaped bring in over half a billion (yes, billion with a B) dollars in revenue every year.
We are a pumpkin-eating society.
Before you decide to indulge in your favorite pumpkin treats, do yourself a favor and read the label.
Not the marketing label on the front, but read the list of ingredients.
Does the food contain actual REAL pumpkin? Or is it a manufactured, chemical flavoring?
Real pumpkin has a multitude of health benefits.
Making the intentional decision to consume real pumpkin vs. faux pumpkin can have a net positive effect on your health.
One of my favorite ways to consume canned pumpkin puree is to mix it with Greek yogurt and a little bit of raw, organic honey OR make overnight oats with it.
However, my new obsession is a recipe and meal planning app, Fit Men Cook by Kevin Curry and he's got a Chocolate Pumpkin Smoothie recipe in his database that looks mad easy to make.
If you're not following him on IG, you must go follow him now @fitmencook. His food looks amazing and super simple to make.
Back to the Chocolate Pumpkin Smoothie
If you have a can of pumpkin puree (not canned pumpkin pie filling), then you can make this yummy smoothie.
Ingredients
½ frozen banana
⅓ c canned pumpkin puree
2 tbsp peanut butter
1 tbsp cocoa powder
1 tsp cinnamon
¾ c almond milk
Add all ingredients to a blender and blend until smooth. Pour into a glass and enjoy.
